Fuel Economy

The ISX15 is the industry leader in fuel economy with our proven technology, including more efficient fuel and water pumps to provide additional usable horsepower. Together with optimized combustion and fewer active regenerations of the aftertreatment system, today’s ISX15 delivers better fuel economy.

Emissions

The ISX15 was the first engine certified to meet Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations – a full year ahead of schedule. The Cummins ISX15 is equipped with On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) to ensure optimal emissions system performance.

Performance

ISX15 ratings range from 400-600 hp with up to 2050 lb-ft of torque. SmartTorque ratings add 200 lb-ft of extra torque so trucks can make it up steep grades. Vocational ratings have additional torque in the lower gear ranges. Operators can tailor ISX15 operation for any on-highway application.

The Cummins ISX Engine’s unique dual overhead camshaft design delivers high performance and exceptional braking. The first cam drives high-pressure fuel injection for clean, responsive power. The second cam includes a dedicated set of lobes for the operation of the integrated engine brake, in addition to operating the intake and exhaust valves. High-pressure fuel injection gives the ISX cleaner, more complete combustion. The VG Turbo now has electric actuation to provide the exact amount of boost needed at every engine speed.

Every element in our integrated design is manufactured within the Cummins family. That includes features like our proven cooled-EGR subsystem, a high-pressure fuel injection system, patented VG Turbo, Cummins Particulate Filter and a crankcase ventilation system.

  • Fully Integrated Electronic Controls – A single ECM (Electronic Control Module) controls the engine and aftertreatment. Also coordinates interaction with the transmission, ABS, engine brake, cooling fan and more.
  • Variable Geometry Turbocharger – Enhanced response and control with electric actuation for infinite adjustment, providing exact boost at any rpm. Sliding-nozzle design increases reliability, durability.
  • Cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation – Lowers combustion temperatures for reduced emissions and optimized mpg.
  • Cummins Particulate Filter – Fully integrated for uncompromising performance, reliability. Reduces particulate matter 90%.
  • Crankcase Ventilation System – coalescing filter only needs replacement every 3rd to 4th oil change.
  • Patented Mid-Stop Cylinder Liners – Robust design allows for variations in coolant chemistry.
